SPIRIT LED

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you

shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

For the flesh lusts against the Spirit,

and the Spirit against the flesh; and

these are contrary to one another,

so that you do not do the things

that you wish.

But if you are led by the Spirit,

you are not under the law.

(Galatians 5.16-18).

STEPS

The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom,

and his tongue talks of justice.

The law of the Lord is in his heart; none of

his steps shall slide.

(Psalm 37.30 & 31).

BY FAITH

It was not through law that

Abraham and his offspring

received the promise that

he would be heir of the world,

but through the righteousness

that comes by faith.

(Romans 4.13).

NO DEBT

Let no debt remain outstanding,

except the continuing debt to love

one another, for he who loves his

fellowman has fulfilled the law.

(Romans 13.8).

APPEARED

Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact,

sin is lawlessness.

But you know that He appeared so that

He might take away our sins.

And in Him is no sin. No one who lives

in Him keeps on sinning.

No one who continues to sin has either

seen Him or known Him.

(I.John 3.4-6).

NEW

“The time is coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant

with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. It will not be like the

covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to

lead them out of Egypt, because they broke My covenant though I was a

husband to them.” declares the Lord.

“This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,”

declares the Lord.

“I will put My law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God,

and they will be My people. … Continue Reading

THE SPIRIT OF LIFE

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those

who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus

the law of the Spirit  of life set me free from the law of sin and death.

(Romans 8. 1 & 2).

ONE CONDITION

Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law and its righteous requirements.

He is also the fulfillment of all the types presented in the Law

which pointed to Him. The Temple, the High Priest, the high

holy days, the sacrifices and offerings all pointed to Him and

culminated in Him. In Him the purpose of the Law, the end

which it was designed to accomplish is fulfilled.

The purpose of the Law is fulfilled in Christ Jesus our Lord and

Savior.

The law was designed as the means of right relationship to God for

everyone who trusts in and adheres to and relies on Him.

Law, Religion and Grace

Law, Religion and Grace

WHAT SHALL WE SAY THEN? THAT THE LAW ITSELF IS SIN?

GOD FORBID!

(Romans 7.7 a).

Barth discusses the MEANING  OF RELIGION as it relates

to this verse in his extensive commentary

THE EPISTLE TO THE ROMANS:

“We have now reached the point where we are bound to

discuss the effective meaning and significance of

that last and noblest human possibility which encounters

us at the threshold and meeting-place of two worlds,

but which, nevertheless, remains itself on this

side of the abyss dividing sinners from those who are

under grace.

Here at this turning-point grace and law-religion-

the first invisibility and the last visible thing,

confront each other.

Grace is the freedom of … Continue Reading
