THE MESSAGE

Saturday, October 8th, 2011

To which of the angels did God ever say,

“Sit at My right hand

 until I make your enemies

a footstool for your feet”?

Are not all angels ministering spirits sent

to serve those who will inherit salvation?

We must pay more careful attention, therefore,

to what we have heard, so that we do not drift

away. For if the message spoken by angels was

binding, and every violation and disobedience

received its just punishment, how shall we escape

if we ignore such a great salvation?

This salvation, which was first announced by the

Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard Him.

God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various

miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed

according to His will.

(Hebrews 1.13-2.4).

BLESSED

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town

in the hill country of Judea, where she entered

Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When

Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped

in Elizabeth’s womb and Elizabeth was filled with

the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed:

“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the

child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the

mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the

sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my

womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that

what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!”

(Luke 1.39-45)

THE BIRTH OF JESUS FORETOLD

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a

town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named

Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The

angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored!

The Lord is with you.”

Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of

greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid,

Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and

give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will

be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God

will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the

house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.”

How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and

the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one

to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative

is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren

is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God.”

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have

said.” Then the angel left her.

(Luke 1.26-38).

IN THE TIME

Monday, December 20th, 2010

In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest

named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division

of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of

Aaron. Both were upright in the sight of God’ observing

all the Lord’s commandments and regulations blamelessly.

But they had no children, because Elizabeth was barren; and

they were both well along in years.

Once when Zechariah’s division was on duty and he was serving

as priest before God, he was chosen by lot, according to the custom

of the priesthood, to go into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.

And when the time for the burning of incense came, all the assembled

worshipers were praying outside.

Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side

of the altar of incense. When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and

was gripped with fear. But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid,

Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear

you a son, and you are to give him the name John. He will be a joy and

delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be

great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented

drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth. Many

of the people of Israel will he bring back to the Lord their God. And he

will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the

hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom

of the righteous- to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

Zechariah asked the angel, “How can I be sure of this? I am an old man

and my wife is well along in years.”

The angel answered, I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and

have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news. And now

you will be silent and not be able to speak until the day this happens,

because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their

proper time.

Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah and wondering why

he stayed so long in the temple. When he came out, he could not speak

to them. They realized he had seen a vision in the temple, for he kept

making signs to them but remained unable to speak.

When his time of service was completed, he returned home. After this

his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained

in seclusion. “The Lord has done this for me,” she said. “In these days

He has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.

(Luke 1.5-25).

DISCLOSED

Monday, November 8th, 2010

The prophets sought to find out to whom or when this was

to come which the Spirit of Christ working in them was indicating

when He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that

should follow.

It was then disclosed to them that the services they were

rendering were not meant for themselves and their time,

but for you. It is these very things which have now already

been made known plainly to you by those who preached the

Best News Ever (the Gospel) to you by the Holy Spirit sent

from heaven. Into these things the angels long to look!

INNERMOST

Sunday, October 17th, 2010

Now on the final and most important day of the Feast,

Jesus stood, and He cried in a loud voice, If any man is

thirsty, let him come to Me and drink!

He who believes in Me as the Scripture has said, From his

innermost being shall flow springs and rivers of living water.

But He was speaking of the Spirit, Whom those who believed

in Him were afterward to receive. For the Holy Spirit had not

yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

(John 7.37-39).

RIVERS OF LIVING WATER

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

On the last day of the festival, the great day,

while Jesus was standing there, He cried out,

“Let anyone who is thirsty come to Me, and

let the one who believes in Me drink. As the

scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer’s heart

shall flow rivers of living water.’” Now He  said

this about the Spirit, which believers in Him were

to receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given,

because Jesus was not yet glorified.

(John 7. 37-39).

IN EVERY NATION

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

“And Peter opened his mouth and said:

‘Most certainly and thoroughly I now

perceive and understand that God shows

no partiality and is no respecter of persons.

But in every nation he who venerates and

has a reverential fear of God, treating Him

with worshipful obedience and living

uprightly, is acceptable to Him and sure

of being received and welcomed by Him.

You know the contents of the message

which He sent to Israel, announcing the

good news of peace by Jesus Christ, Who

is Lord of all-

The same message which was proclaimed

throughout Judea, starting from Galilee

after the baptism preached by John-

How God anointed and consecrated Jesus

of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with

strength and ability and power; how He

went about doing good and, in particular,

curing all who were harassed and

oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

And we are eye and ear witnesses of

everything that He did both in the land of

the Jews and in Jerusalem. And yet they

put Him out of the way by hanging Him

on a tree;

But God raised Him to life on the third day

and caused Him to be manifest.

Not by all the people but to us who were

chosen beforehand by God as witnesses,

who ate and drank with Him after He arose

from the dead.

And He charged us to preach to the people

and to bear solemn testimony that He is the

God-appointed and God-ordained Judge of

the living and the dead.

To Him all the prophets testify that everyone

who believes in Him receives forgiveness of

sins through His name.’

While Peter was still speaking these words,

the Holy Spirit fell on all who were listening,

to the message”

(Acts 10.34-44).
