He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but because of His mercy, by the cleansing of the new birth and renewing of the Holy Spirit, which He poured richly upon us through Jesus Christ our Lord.

For in the gospel (Best News Ever) a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word.
