FORGIVEN AND HEALED

Monday, October 25th, 2010

And Jesus, getting into a boat, crossed to the other side

and came to His own town.

And behold, they brought to Him a man paralyzed and

prostrated by illness, lying on a sleeping pad; and when

Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralyzed man, Take

courage, son; your sins are forgiven and the penalty remitted.

And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, This man

blasphemes!

But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, Why do you think evil and

harbor malice in your hearts?

For which is easier: to say, Your sins are forgiven and the penalty remitted,

or to say, Get up and walk?

But in order that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth

to forgive sins and remit the penalty.

(Matthew 9.1-6).

TIME AND ETERNITY

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Time and eternity, temporal and eternal are contrasts impossible to ignore.

We stand in awe as we see that for the joy that was set before Him, Jesus

Christ endured the cross, despising the shame and is seated at the right

hand of the glory on high. His mission accomplished is the salvation

of mankind, the rescue of humanity from futility, from the chains of sin,

evil and destruction.

Himself being eternal and beyond time, He entered the time and space continuum

He had created. He became one of us to make us one with Him.

Being eternally divine He became human to restore us to right relationship, to

fellowship with God.

In this way He made it possible for us who are bound by time  and death to see eternity

by having eternal life in Him.

Spiritual Dilemma

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Now if I do what I do not desire

to do, it is no longer I who do it,

but sin that dwells in me.

So I find it to be a rule of action

within my being that when I want

to do what is right and good, there

is evil in me, though I desire to do good.

For I delight in the Law of God

according to the inward man.

But I see another law in my members,

at war against the law of my mind,

making me a prisoner to the law of

sin which is in my members.

O wretched man that I am!

Who will deliver me from this

body of death?

I thank God! He will through Jesus

Christ our Lord!

So then, with the mind I myself

serve the Law of God, but with the

flesh the law of sin.

( Romans 7.20-25).

Please consider these points:

1) This dual nature presents a dilemma.

2) Flesh versus mind ( carnal versus

spiritual) continue to be in conflict.

3) The only way out of this dilemma

is to submit to the Lordship of Jesus.

4) The divine rescue mission is

accomplished by Jesus Christ our

Lord and Savior who died to deliver us

from our sins and rose to grant us

eternal life with Him, with The Father

and with the Holy Spirit.

The Nature of Sin

THE NATURE OF SIN

What then do we conclude?

Is the Law identical with sin?

Certainly not! Nevertheless,

if it had not been for the Law,

I would not have recognized

sin. For instance I would not

have known about covetousness

if the Law had not said, You should

not covet and have an evil desire.

But sin, finding an opportunity, to

express itself got a hold on me and

provoked forbidden desires such as

lust and covetousness. For without

the Law sin is inactive.

Once I was alive, but quite apart from

the Law. But when the commandment

came, sin came alive and I died.

And the very legal ordinance which was

designed to bring life actually proved

death.

For sin, seizing the opportunity from the

commandment, beguiled me and using it

as a weapon, killed me.

The Law therefore is holy, and the

commandment is holy, just and good.

Romans 7.7-12).

Consider the following:

1) The Law is just, holy and good.

2) The problem is with human

sinful nature.

3) Sinful nature is enticed and

entrapped by the allure of sin.

4) Sin ends in death.

5) This is a vicious cycle which

is at work on those unaware

of the Law also.

6) The notion of sin or taboo is

pervasive in every society and

every human heart.

( More on this in Romans 2.14 and 15).

7) The Law proscribes what is taboo

in God’s sight and regulates human behavior.

However, the root cause of sinful behavior,

the violation of taboo, is wrong thinking due

to sinful nature.

Right action is predicated on right thinking.

A new mind based on spiritual rebirth is required.

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ grants this to us.

He paid our sin debt in full. We can be reborn of

the water and the Spirit. This is how we enter the

Kingdom of God, become a new creation in Him and live

forever with Him, the Father and the Holy Spirit.

WE THANK YOU FOREVER LORD JESUS!

YOUR NEW LIFE

YOUR NEW LIFE

We were buried with Him by the baptism

into death, so that  just as Christ was raised

from the dead by the glorious power of

the Father, so we too might live and behave

in newness of life.

For if we have become one with Him by

sharing a death like His, we shall also be

one with Him in sharing His resurrection

by a new life lived for God.

We know that our old self was nailed to the cross

with Him in order that our body which is

the instrument of sin might be made

ineffective and inactive for evil, that we

no longer be slaves of sin.

For when a person dies, he or she is freed

from the power of sin.

Now if we have died with Christ, we believe

that we shall also live with Him.

( Romans 6.4-8).

Consider and pray about the following:

1) We are no longer the same person we had

been before baptism.

2) Our motivations, thoughts and actions are

now being transformed to be conformed to

the motivations, thoughts and actions of

Jesus Christ.

3) Our perspective of the world, people and

events are shaped by the Holy Spirit to be

in line with His perspective.

4) The life we live is led by the Holy Spirit.

5) We are not in charge of our life.

Jesus Christ is the Leader of our life.

6) We are no longer constrained by the

physical limits of human power and

abilities.

7) The power at work in us is the same

power which raised Jesus from the dead.
