There Is No Difference

But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed

by the Law and the Prophets.

Even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all who believe.

For there is no difference,

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus

(Romans 3.21-24).

These are such pivotal verses that Martin Luther stated: ” Note that here is the very center

and kernel of the Epistle and of all Scripture.”

There is no difference. There is no distinction. Men, women, young, old, rich, poor, skinny,

fat, of all walks of life, every tribe, ethnicity, nation and origin need this message. St. Paul

understood that once God’s righteousness eclipses every other form of righteousness, this

message is universal, because it is for everyone. That’s why it is universal and it is about the

Kingdom of God. There can be no separation. There can be distinction. There is no discrimination.

God’s love is for everyone. God’s Kingdom is for the entire world. There can be no geographic,

cultural or ethnic barriers. Commenting on God’s righteousness has to start with noting the

unrighteousness of men. That’s why St. Paul states: “There is no difference, for all all have sinned

and fall short of the glory of God.”

We all  have this in common. We all have sinned and all fall short of the glory of God. We also have

in common the grace of God which is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.

We all share in the unity of falling short of the glory of God. We also share in the grace of God through

His Son. We are reconciled to God while we were His enemies. We must first understand the alienation

and anti- God position which sinners (all mankind) have. We must also understand that Jesus Christ,

Who is fully God and fully Man has reconciled us. He has made peace between God and us all.

We must have no illusion about human nature and human accomplishments. We must be very open

about the clear and always present evidence of human failure to measure up. It makes no difference

and there is no difference who, what or where we are. We all fall short of the glory of God.

But it also makes no difference how worthy or unworthy we think we are. We all are atoned for.

We all have to repent and receive the gift of God, His most gracious invitation to enter His Kingdom.

HOPE

HOPE

“Through Him also we have access by faith into His grace in which we stand.

And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God.”

(Romans 5.2).

Hope that is seen is not hope. We hope to see what we do not yet see.  Hope is energized by faith.

Without faith it is impossible to please God.

The Gospel which is THE BEST NEWS EVER brings the best and brightest hope to humanity.

The Best News Ever  tell us we are made partakers of the divine nature.

Here is St. Peter:

“Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received like precious faith

with ourselves in and through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

May grace and peace be multiplied to you in knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things to life and godliness, through the knowledge

of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence.

By means of these He has bestowed on us His precious and exceedingly great promises, so that

through them you may escape from the moral decay that is in the world because of covetousness

and become partakers of the divine nature.”

(I. Peter 1. 1-4).

The Gospel tells us we shall see Jesus face to face and we shall be like Him:

” Beloved, we are now God’s children. It is not yet disclosed what we shall be, but

we know that when He comes and is manifested, we shall resemble and be like Him,

for we shall see Him as He really is.

And everyone who has this hope on Him cleanses himself just as He is pure.

(I. John 3.2 & 3).

Hope fills the gap between the ALREADY and NOT YET.

Faith helps us to rejoice while we wait.

God’s Action For Peace

God’s Action For Peace

God’s Action for peace is seen in Jesus Christ on the Cross on our behalf. We

see God’s action in the Resurrection. We see God’s action for our peace in

the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Faith makes the earthly situation conform to the heavenly reality.

When Saul who later became St. Paul was persecuting Christians, Jesus confronted him.

Then Saul in fear and trembling and blindness trusted Jesus. Saul came into contact with

the Invisible and Unknown God. Saul became Paul. He became small. In weakness he

found God’s strength. By coming to terms with his own insecurities and insignificance he

was able to turn his life over to Jesus Christ the Creator to create a new man. He found

God’s calling irresistible. He found joy in his new calling. He found hope in despair.

He found the true knowledge of holiness and divine power. That’s why he says: ” I live,

yet not I”. God’s action for peace transformed Saul and us so we can say:

” I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me and

the life I now live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God Who loved me and gave Himself

up for me.

(Galatians 2.20).

Peace With God

Peace With God

This is the peace made by God. When we were alienated from the righteous, holy God

He made peace with us through Jesus Christ on the Cross. While we were yet sinners

Jesus Christ died for us. He redeemed us. He set us free. He rescued us from sin, death

and destruction. He transformed our disposition towards Him while we were totally

helpless, hopeless and clueless. He established us in Him. He attributed the righteous

standing of Jesus to us. He made us His friends and sons. He made peace with us who were

far and with those who were near. He set us free. He asserted that we are saved by grace

through faith, His work  and entirely His doing. We can express our joy and gratitude, our

surprise and amazement at this. We praise His Name and thank Him forever.

By Faith

By Faith

By faith in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior we have peace with God.

(Romans 5.1).

This is the unconditional peace of God that extends beyond circumstances.

By faith we are declared righteous by God. We are pronounced, ” Not guilty!”

By faith the invisible reality of eternity enters our present time. The potent

reality of the divine enters our current concrete condition. This is because

by faith we become the “new man” under the death, burial and resurrection of

Jesus Christ as witnessed in our baptism we belong to God Who gives life to the

dead and calls the things that are not as though they were. We are born from above,

born of the Spirit, into a new and living hope that never perishes, we enter through the

narrow gate, through Jesus the gate of life, the door of the sheepfold. He is the Door

for the sheep:

“I am the Door; anyone who enters in through Me will be saved. He will come in and go out

and find pasture.”

John 10.9).

By faith we are saved and this necessary conviction, this prerequisite trust is given to us by God

as an absolute gift.

The new reality, the TRUTH that we are now new men is evident at the gate beyond which it is

humanly impossible to proceed. It is only made possible to us because of  the Cross of Christ

Jesus and His Resurrection. We trust Him Who is the Resurrection and the Life. No one

can come to the Father except through Jesus Christ. ” I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.

No one comes to the Father except through Me”. ( John 14.6).

And no one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws him:

” No one is able to come to Me unless the Father Who sent Me attracts and draws him and

gives him the desire to come to Me, and I will raise him up from the dead at the last day.”

(John 6.44).

Because of the Father drawing us and the faith he bestowed on us to trust in Christ Jesus

our Lord and Savior we are saved and have right standing with Him. We have peace with God

and are counted righteous because in Christ His righteousness is imputed to us due to faith

which is His gift also. Therefore in our weakness we are strong, in our poverty we are rich,

in our deadness we are alive and in our smallness we are great. The last are first, the least

are best, the lost are found, the sad are glad, the blind see, the lame jump for joy  and the

slaves are set free. Because He takes up your cause. He takes your side. He gives you

His victory. He always causes us to triumph. We are more than conquerors through Him

Who loves us. He Who has begun a good work in you shall also perfect it. He has placed us

in the center of His will. He has promised us we shall see His salvation in the Land of the Living.

He promised us we will be in His Kingdom.

No Fear

No Fear

There is no fear in love. But perfect full grown, complete love casts out fear. For fear brings

with it the thought of punishment, so he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love.

We love Him, because He first loved us.

(I. John 4.18 & 19).

Being justified by faith, we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

through Him we have our access by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we firmly

ans safely stand. And let us rejoice and exult in hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God.

(Romans 5.1 &2).

HALLELUJAH! THANK YOU LORD JESUS FOREVER AND EVER!

External vs Eternal

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

External vs Eternal

All men and women have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

This is one thing we all have in common and in this we have to agree.

Humans do not have the glory of God. When we exalt ourselves we

shall be abased. On the contrary when we abase ourselves we shall be

elevated. The problem of sin plagues all mankind. The problem of sin

is widespread and pervasive. The forgiveness of sin is only possible

on the basis of faith. The problem of faith is in believing what is unseen.

That is why Jesus Christ has said: ” Blessed are they that have not seen

and yet believed.” Recognizing that apart from the fact of faith there is

no escape is a clear-headed appraisal of the human condition. The grace

of God is manifested in that while we were yet sinners Jesus Christ died

for us instead of us.

Recognizing that we all need God’s forgiveness is not a pessimistic assessment,

a depressing thought, a sense of deep regret or remorse, a foreboding or

dejected state of mind. It is a simple statement of fact. Regardless of how good,

kind, charitable, helpful, spiritual or obedient we are, the simple fact remains that

all have sinned, there is none good, no, not one. All have sinned and all have come

short of the glory of God. Because of this rich and poor, wise and foolish, fat and skinny,

young and old of any nation all share in the same quality of sinfulness, therefore are

pronounced guilty. The good news, indeed the Best News Ever announces God’s love

and goodness towards us. The only way to be saved is by God’s grace. His grace is

expressed in Jesus Christ on the cross. He has conquered sin and death once and for all.

HALLELUJAH! THANK YOU LORD JESUS!

INVISIBLE

Jesus Christ is our righteousness. He is our Redeemer. He is our justification and sanctification.

He is our Light and Life, our peace and reconciliation, our wisdom and power. He is our Freedom.

He gives us faith to believe in Him. Faith comes from hearing the Word of God. The Gospel is the

power of God to save  everyone who believes.

What Abraham Saw

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Jesus said that Abraham saw the day of Jesus and rejoiced.

Abraham saw that Jesus will as the Lord of Lords, King of Kings and the Righteous Judge will sit

to judge the world in righteousness. Moses and the prophets saw it too.

We know that a cloud of faithful witnesses surrounding us have seen the day when God’s righteousness will

be established. The hope of human yearning will be fulfilled.

The expectation of nature will be satisfeied. The non-sense of history will make sense.

Injustice will yield to justice. Faith will be sight and every eye shall see.

” Seek the Lord while he made be found and call upon Him while he is near,

let the wicked forsake their way and the unrighteous their thoughts,

let them return to the Lord, that he may have mercy on them, and to our God,

for he will abundantly pardon.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord.

for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways,

and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until

they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower

and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not

return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing

for which I sent it.

For you shall go out in joy and be led back in peace; the mountains and the hills before you

shall burst into song and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Instead of the thorn shall come up the myrtle; and it shall be to the Lord for a memorial,

for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

(Isaiah 55. 6-13).

We too can see with the eyes of faith beyond the external, behold the eternal!

Abraham knew that God is the original promise keeper and that He will never forsake you nor leave you.

Here is what Abraham saw:

” By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to set out for a place that he was to receive as an inheritance;

and he set out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he stayed for a time in the land he had been promised,

as in a foreign land, living in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he

looked forward to the city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God. By faith he received power of

procreation, even though he was too old- and Sarah herself was barren-because he considered Him faithful Who had

promised. Therefore from one person, and this one as good as dead, descendants were born, ‘as many as the stars

of heaven and as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.’”

(Hebrews 11. 8-12).

YES!

YES!

In Christ Jesus all of God’s promises are Yes and Amen!

This means that the unrighteousness and ungodliness of mankind has been crossed by God.

This means that the ugliness of sin has been wiped away.

This means that the despair in the human soul is dissolved.

This means that the emptiness in the human heart is filled.

This means that the lie of the enemy has been exposed.

This means that the day of salvation is here.

This means that hope is restored, faith triumphs and love lives on.

This means that the call of God is going out to everyone to taste and see that the Lord is good.
