GOD’S DECISION

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

God the Creator and Lord decided to commit Himself to the humans

He created and became one of us so we can be His.

His justice and His Kingdom are proclaimed in His Word.

His Word is Truth and everlasting.

The more we are informed and instructed by His Word

the better we learn to obey Him.

God’s decision to forgive our sins on the basis of His sacrifice

and our faith is His righteousness and glory.

The Father pronounces us to be righteous because of the faith

He gave us in His Son Jesus Christ.

He  pronounces us to be His sons because we are accepted in

His beloved Son.

He pronounces us to be free. He pronounces us to be holy.

He pronounces us to be wise.

” But now, apart from the Law, the righteousness of God has

been disclosed and is attested by the Law and the prophets,

the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all

who believe. For there is no distinction, since all have sinned

and fall short of the glory of God; they are now justified by His grace

as a gift through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, Whom God put

forth as a sacrifice of atonement by His blood, effective through faith.

He did this to show His righteousness, because in His divine forbearance

He has passed over the sins previously committed;

it was to prove at the present time that he himself is righteous and

that He justifies the one who has faith in Jesus.

Then what becomes of boasting? It is excluded. By what law?

By that of works? No, but by the Law of Faith.

For we hold that a person is justified by faith apart from the works

prescribed by the Law.”

(Romans 3.21-28).

HALLELUJAH! THANK YOU! WE PRAISE YOUR NAME FOREVER! THANK YOU LORD JESUS!

God’s Righteousness

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

But, now the righteousness of God has been

revealed independently and altogether

apart from the Law, although actually it

is attested by the Law and the prophets.

(Romans 3.21).

It is truly vital to rightly understand that

this is a fallen world, our predicament in it is

indeed dire,

we are helpless, hopeless and desperate and

apart from God’s grace this world is doomed.

All we like sheep have gone astray, everyone to

his own way. There is none that does good, not one.

The heart is deceitful and desperately wicked, who

can know it? All have sinned and come short of

the glory of God. The Law and the Prophets clearly

expound the Fix we are in. St. Paul said that

there is no good in him, he could not do what he

should do and did what he should not do.

We are bound in time and space, limited in

possibility and ability.

However, we have eternity

set in our hearts as Solomon said. We know there

has to be a point to it all and we reflect on

our origin, a time when there was abundance, peace,

love and only goodness in the Garden

where Adam and Eve strolled with God in the cool

of the day.

There was a time when the

sun stood still and time stopped upon Gibeon

and the moon did not move in the valley of

Ayalon.

We know there is a future with no pain, no sorrow, no tears

and no war.

We know there is a future resurrection when the

graves will be opened and the sea will give up the

dead.

We know that there is a judgeement coming when

the Jesus Christ will judge everyone

righteously because He is the righteous Son of God

and Son of man.

He is our righteousness.

He is our redeemer. He is our future.

But, now, refers to the new order of things, to the

shape of things to come and our escape of

the desperate Fix we are in.

This is because the Kingdom has come to us.

The Kingdom is among us , because the King has come.

The King of kings and Lord of lords has come.

I saw a new heaven and a new earth, says St. John in

Revelation, for the first heaven and

the first earth are passed away.

But, now we hear the voice of God which is

heard in the Law and has also spoken by the

prophets, speaking through the Holy Spirit

and  guiding us.

But, now in these last days

God has spoken to us in the Person of His Son,

Whom He appointed Heir and lawful Owner

of all things, also by and through Whom He

created the worlds and the reaches of space

and the ages of time (He made, produced, built,

operated and arranged them in order).

He is the sole expression of the glory of God

(the Light-being, the out-raying, the radiance

of the divine) and He is the perfect imprint and

very image of God’s nature, upholding and

maintaining, guiding and propelling the

universe by His mighty word of power.

When He had by offering Himself accomplished

our cleansing of sins and riddance of guilt, He sat down

at the right hand of the divine majesty on high.

(Hebrews 1.2 & 3).

HALLELUJAH! PRAISE, HONOR, GLORY AND POWER BE UNTO JESUS WHOM THE HOLY FATHER HAS

SEATED AT HIS RIGHT! THANK YOU LORD JESUS FOREVERMORE!

Correct Perception

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Correct Perception

The accurate perception of where we stand  with God depends on realizing

God’s standard of righteousness and that no amount of spiritual, religious or

intellectual insight,  no other achievement or accomplishment will impress

God.

His goodness leads us to repentance and it is only by faith, through grace that

we are saved. Even the faith we need is His gift and His salvation is His gift.

Our salvation depends solely on Jesus Christ and His righteousness from

start to finish. He is the author and finisher of our faith. He is the captain of

our salvation. We can only have the proper and correct perception of our

standing with God by realizing that our righteousness is as filthy rags and that

our faith can only be based on Jesus Christ and His righteousness. Failure to

understand or underestimate this vital fact leads to religiosity, self-righteousness

like the Pharisees who tought they were close to God, yet they were the farthest

away from His will.

God’s Goodness Leads You To Repent

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Do you not perceive that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

(Romans 2.4)

It is God’s goodness and kindness that leads you to repentance.

Not our exceptional intelligence, brilliance or insight.

Not our mystical, spiritual or religious background or standing.

Not our strong will-power, discipline, intense prayer or fasting.

Not our achievements, wisdom or energy.

It is God’s goodness and kindness alone which leads you to repentance

from dead works. This is an absolute miracle.

At one point our unrighteousness and ungodliness becomes clear to us.

We realize like Job did when he encountered God in fear and trembling

how much we need God’s imputed righteousness. The righteousness of

Jesus Christ is credited to us when we totally believe and trust Him.

We conclude that God is true and everyone has sinned and come short

of the glory of God. We realize with awe and fear and trembling how much

we need His grace. We are saved by His grace alone and the faith we obtain

is totally His gift. God’s forbearance and long-suffering lead us to repent.

With humility and endless debt of gratitude we receive His most precious gift.

There is nothing better than abiding in His Presence and basking in His love.

We continue to praise Him for His indescribable gift.

The Secret of AGAPE LOVE

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

The love of God is poured out into our hearts by

the Holy Spirit whereby we cry ‘Daddy, Father!’

In this is revealed God our Father, His Eternal Son Jesus

Christ our Elder Brother, the Holy Spirit bearing witness

to our adoption as sons.

In the unique Unity of the Trinity God is eternal,

permanent and perfect Holy Love.

The interaction of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is

eternally initiated, motivated and perpetuated by,

for and in this divine and excellent Love.

All of this is in the context of eternal parameters, beyond

time and space.

We have this Love transferred to us as a timeless,

supernatural and existential action by God to bring us

into His true and majestic Unity.

His timeless Love became  fully manifest in the

Passion of  our Lord and

Savior Jesus the Christ  and at His resurrection.

We celebrate this in the Holy Communion.

We see the invisible Union into which we have been

made participants.

When we take Holy Communion

we are participating in the glory divine,

the Holy Trinity, the Agape Love Who is God,

Incarnate Word made flesh and crucified for our justification,

sanctification and eternal life of glory in God.

“In this the love of God was

made manifested toward us, in that God sent His only

begotten Son into the world, that we might live

through Him.” (I.John 4.9).

We see this in the words of Jesus:

“The words spoke Jesus, and lifted up His eyes

to heaven and said:

‘Father, the hour has come, glorify Your Son, that

Your Son also may glorify You:

As You have given Him power over all flesh, that

He should give eternal life

to as many as You have given Him.

And this is eternal life, that they might know You

the only true God, and Jesus Christ, Whom You have sent.

I have glorified You on the earth: I have finished the work

which You gave Me to do.

And now, O Father, glorify Me with Yourself with

the glory which I had with You before the world existed.

I have manifested Your Name unto the men You have

given Me out of the world.

They were Yours, and You gave them to  Me,

and they have obeyed and kept Your word.

Now they know and understand that all You have

given Me are of You.

For I have given them the words You gave Me

and they received them and have known surely

that I came forth from You and they have believed

that You did send Me.

I pray for them: I am not praying for the world,

but for those You have given Me, for they are Yours.

And all Nine are Yours and Yours are Mine; and I am

glorified in them.

And now I am no more in the world, but these are in

the world, and I come to You.

Holy Father, keep through Your own Name

those You have given Me, that they may

be One, as We are.

While I was with them in the world, I kept them in My

Name: those You have given Me I have kept,

and none of them is lost except the son of perdition;

that the scripture might be fulfilled.

And now I come to You; and these things I speak

in the world, that they might have my joy

fulfilled in themselves.

I have given them Your word; and the world has hated

them, because they are not of the world,

just as I am not of the world.

I pray not that You would take them out of the world,

but that You would keep them from the evil.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

Sanctify them through Your truth: Your word is truth.

As You have sent Me into the world world, I also send them

into the world.

And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also might

be sanctified through the truth.

Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which

shall believe on Me through their word,

That they all may be One, as You, Father are in Me and

I in You, that they also may be One in Us:

that the world may believe that You have sent Me.

And the glory which You gave Me I have given them;

that they may be One, just as We are One.

I in them and You in Me, that they may be made

perfect in One, and that the world may know that

You have sent Me and have loved them as you have

loved Me.

Father, I will that they also, whom You have given Me,

be with Me where I am; that they may behold My glory,

which You have given Me; for You have loved Me

before the foundation of the world.

O righteous Father, the world has not known You:

but I have known You, and these have known that You

have sent Me.

And I have declared Your Name, and will declare,

so that the love You have Me with may be in them,

and I in them.

(John 17).

Why Everyone Needs Jesus, The Light of Life

Glory

For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined

in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the

face of Jesus Christ. (II. Corinthians 4;6).

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ” I am the light of the world. Whoever

follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

(John 8;12).

Just as physical light is essential to life, spiritual Light in the Person

of Jesus is vital for Life. This is why Jesus says, when we follow Him

we will never walk in darkness, but have the light of Life. Because He

is the Light of Life. And God Who has said,’Let there be light!’ in the

beginning, has shone in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge

of the glory of God in the Face (Person) of Jesus.

This Light of the knowledge of the Glory of God in the Face of Jesus is

better understood in contrast. As light is best appreciated when contrasted

to darkness. In the same way the contrasts of righteousness to sin, life to

death, health to sickness allow the appreciation of each gift. This is what

St. Paul does when he says:’ And even if our gospel ( Best News Ever)

is hid, it is hid to them that are lost. In whom the god of this world has

blinded the minds of those who believe not, lest the light of the glorious

gospel (Best News Ever) of Christ, Who is the image of God (Imago Dei),

should shine unto them.

For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves

your servants for Jesus’ sake.

For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined

in our hearts, to give the Light of the Knowledge of the Glory of God in the

Face (Person) of Jesus Christ.

Without Jesus there is only spiritual darkness and shadows. Jesus is the

Light of Life.

God’s Answer

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

God’s Answer

God’s answer to our loneliness, helplessness and restlessness is His love.

In His love we see the Eternal Yes. In Christ all of God’s promises are Yes

and Amen! The answer of God is Jesus Christ Who is the same yesterday,

today and forever. He is more than sufficient. His yoke is easy and His

burden is light. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. With the outpouring

of God’s Holy Spirit we receive God’s love; the more excellent way of love

from God, so we can love God and humans as we ought, fulfilling the great

commandment. This more excellent way helps us put away childish things

and instead of seeing as through a glass dimly, we can see face to face and

know first hand the love, joy and peace of God which pass understanding.

Love enables us to know as we are known, instead of knowing in part.

Love enables us to speak the truth, serve, give and perform without being

a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

The AGAPE love of God is enduring and never fails. Agape love is greater

than faith and hope, because it includes faith and hope. This love believes

all things and hopes all things. This love is the fulfillment of our highest

expectations and greatest jubilations, the foretaste of glory divine,

joy unspeakable and full of glory. We stand in awe of God as Job did, who

once had heard, but now he saw for himself the Only True God and Jesus

Christ. This love extinguishes the vanity and futility of our days and

infuses our lives with fulfillment and meaning. Agape love is the fulfillment

of man’s greatest quest, the hidden manna, the revelation the Unknown God,

the secret of the Cosmos, the completion and perfection of creation, the

manifestation of the invisible God. We know this love in Jesus the Christ,

the Only begotten Son of the Father and experience this love through the

Holy Spirit. Here in this love darkness gives way to light as God and sinners

are reconciled. The ‘No’ of yesterday becomes the eternal ‘Yes’ of God.

The invisible becomes visible, heaven in earth possible and God and man

are at One.

The Future Revealed

The Future Revealed

The sufferings of this present time cannot be compared with the glory of God

which shall be revealed to us.

As we call out to our Father in heaven for His Kingdom to come and His

will to be done on earth as it is in heaven and through the Holy Spirit we

call Him, ‘Abba, Daddy’, He hears and answers us. As we suffer with Jesus, we

shall be glorified with Him. (Romans 8:17b).

We will enter into His liberty and glory as the children of God. His glory is

manifested in suffering at this time. He chose to suffer for our sakes and our

suffering for His sake is the glory of God hidden in suffering is revealed and

leads into eternal joyous life with Him. This future is the glorious

resurrected eternal happy life with God.

Here is what St. Paul says:

” I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship

of His sufferings by becoming like Him at His death, if somehow I may attain

the resurrection from the dead. (Philippians 3;10-11).

The full revelation of the liberty and the glory of the sons of God will be

at the resurrection when the redemption of our bodies will happen.

Then, the creation which has been in bondage to death and decay will be

set free.

‘For the earnest expectation of the creature waits for the manifestation

of the sons of God.’

The inner peace we have in our communion with God is what the creation

craves. Indeed every human being craves this communion with the hidden

and unknown God. This craving is intrinsic to their being. The quest for the

outer universe, the deep oceans and highest mountains, the desire to

explore the secrets of the universe, even at its highest peak cannot fulfill

the true yearning and inner thirst for meaning. We find in nature a deep

craving for the manifestation of the liberty and glory of the sons of God,

because the creature was subject to vanity since  God subjected it to

futility so that every creature would expect in hope of  the escape from

corruption and decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.

Nature everywhere speaks to us of a desperate struggle for survival.

This desperate struggle ends  in despair unless what we are saying is true.

This struggle is vain and futile unless the future resurrection is true.

The struggle is useless and meaningless, indeed existence is hopeless

and pointless unless what we are saying here is true about the future of

mankind and nature.

This bondage to corruption talked about here is the finiteness of life and the

inevitable death and decay of every creature. The end of every human

enterprise would be futility unless what we are saying here is true.

The creature is not willing to be subject to vanity. In fact great attempts are

made to deny this vanity. But the creature was made subject to futility,

not willingly, but by reason of Him Who has subjected the same in hope.

God has subjected the creature to futility, so that the creature would hope.

Jesus is the answer to our yearnings, our questions, our dilemmas.

The Fall caused death and decay, strife and separation, sickness and

suffering. The Hope of the resurrection and union between man and God

is fulfilled through the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus the Christ.

If we are aware of our mortality we know we need Him. If we know we

are in bondage to futility, we know we need Him. If we understand the

predicament of the tangible universe, we know we need Him.

His promise is new life for the new man, a new creation, the new heaven

and the new earth. In this we rejoice and we anticipate the liberation of

the entire creation from futility. While awaiting our transformation the

entire creation groans in labor pains together until now, because of the

separation inflicted on it at the Fall. The creature sighs for the glory that

shall be revealed to us. What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human

heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love Him, these

things God has revealed to us through His Spirit; for the Spirit searches

everything, even the deep things of God. For what human being knows what

is truly human except the human spirit that is within? So also no one

comprehends what is truly God’s except the Spirit of God. ( I. Corinthians

2;9-12).

We also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, we ourselves also groan

within ourselves, waiting for our adoption, that is the redemption of our

body. We know we are saved by Jesus Christ and we now have the first-

fruits of the Spirit. We have received our freedom in Him. The Spirit bears

witness that we are children of God. The Spirit is poured out in our hearts

whereby we cry, ‘Abba,Daddy!’ Jesus Christ has made us partakers of the

divine nature. Hope that is seen is not hope. But we are saved by this hope

that is unseen. The unseen fact of who we are in Jesus Christ. The unseen

reality of our redemption. The unseen future which awaits all nature. We

have received the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, the Spirit of adoption,

the Spirit Who raised Jesus from the dead. We have this hope, as an anchor

of our souls.

“For God is not unjust; He will not overlook your work and the love you

showed for His sake in serving the saints, as you still do. And we want each

one of you to show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of

hope to the very end, so that you may not become sluggish, but imitators

of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

When God made a promise to Abraham, because he had no one greater

by whom to swear, He swore by Himself, saying, ‘I will surely bless you and

multiply you.’ And thus Abraham, having patiently endured, obtained the

promise. Human beings, of course swear by someone greater than

themselves, and an oath given as confirmation puts an end to all dispute.

In the same way, when God desired to show even more clearly to the heirs

of the promise the unchangeable character of His purpose, He guaranteed

it by an oath, so that through two unchangeable things in which it is

impossible that God would prove false, we who have taken refuge might be

strongly encouraged to seize the hope set before us. We have this hope, a

sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters the inner shrine

behind the curtain, where Jesus, the forerunner on our behalf, has entered,

having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”

(Hebrews 6; 10-20).

The fact that Jesus Christ has entered the heavenly Holy of Holies, coupled

with the fact that the Holy Spirit dwells in us comprise our solid basis for

holy hope.

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray

as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.

And God, Who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit,

because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”

(Romans 8;26 & 27).

At the same time the Holy Spirit while intercedes, we are also made aware

of God’s thoughts:

“So also no one comprehends what is truly God’s except the Spirit of God.

Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit of God, so

that we may understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. And we speak

of these things in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the

Spirit, interpreting spiritual things to those who are spiritual.

Those who are unspiritual do not receive the gifts of God’s Spirit, for they

are foolishness to them, and they are unable to understand them because

they are spiritually discerned. Those who are spiritual discern all things,

and they are themselves subject to no one else’s scrutiny.

‘For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct Him?’ But we

have the mind of Christ.” (I. Corinthians 2;11b-16).

The Spirit Who is the Spirit of adoption Himself bears witness with our

spirit that we are children of God. He comforts and reassures us. He

reminds us what we have been told, He shows us the Truth and will

reveal to us everything Jesus Christ wants us to know. He will guide

us into all truth. As we pray He intercedes for us, because we do not know

what to pray for, but the Spirit makes intercession for us with sighs that go

beyond human vocabulary and intercedes for us according to the will of

God. In this way we commune with God the Father and are in union with

Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life.

” And we know that all things work for together for good to them that love

God, to them who are called according to His purpose. For whom He

foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, in

order that He might be the firstborn within a large family. And those He

whom He predestined He also called; and those whom He called He also

justified; and those whom He justified He also glorified.” (Romans 8; 28-30).

THE SUFFERINGS OF THIS PRESENT TIME

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

The Sufferings of This Present Time

“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be

compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us-ward. For the

earnest expectation of the creature waits for the manifestation of the

sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly,

but by reason of Him Who has subjected the same in hope, because the

creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption

into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the

whole creation groans and labors in pain together until now. And not only

the creation, bot ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, we

ourselves also groan within ourselves, waiting for our adoption, the

redemption of our body. For by hope we are saved: but hope that is seen

is not hope: for who hopes for what is seen? But if we hope for what we

do not see, we wait for it with patience.

(Romans 8:18-25).

Here St. Paul is not minimizing the depth and extent of human suffering.

He does not have a non-caring approach to the social, physical, material or

psychological dimensions of the ills in the present age.

He knows the vast ravages of misery, war, sickness, natural disasters.

Since our human inclination to find answers, solutions and consolation

can at best be inadequate we are bound to be disappointed and discouraged.

If we seek to address the great question of finite life versus the infinite

universe, our human understanding is finite and limited.

What we need and what God offers is not a pat answer or simple panacea.

What we need is the Absolute Truth. The Absolute Truth of the Unknown

God. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter. He is infinite and unlimited.

Where our thoughts, dreams, aspirations and imaginations are finite

and limited, God is unlimited and infinite. Where the sufferings of this

life are limited and are confined to this life, His Kingdom is forever.

This life is limited by space and time, but the Kingdom is eternal and

supernatural. In the midst of the present age we see the Eternal God

Who is Eternal Truth with His answer on the Cross. We see Jesus Christ

Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the Cross despising

the shame. We see Jesus crucified and risen in glory for our justification

and sanctification. We see the Unknown God Who Cares. The God Who

is Love. The Incarnate Word. We see God’s answer to our pain and anguish,

disease and distress, despair and depression, darkness and disappointment.

We see Who belong to, Who holds us in His hand that was nailed to the Cross.

Now Spirit-led we see that we are sons of God. If sons, then heirs of God,

co-heirs with Christ.

At the point of suffering we encounter Jesus Christ Who loves us so much

that He endured the horrendous suffering at the Cross of Calvary. We

encounter the Father Who sent His only begotten Son, so whoever believes

in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. We encounter the Holy Spirit

Who is shed abroad in our hearts to convey  the love of God which passes

all understanding and reasoning, whereby we cry, ‘Daddy, Father!’.

We have communion with God. The Holy Spirit shows us the freedom and

glory of eternity with God. Suffering is where we meet Jesus Christ the Son

of God, the Son of man Who manifested His glory through suffering for us.

KINGLY

KINGLY

If children, we are heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ.

God acted on our behalf, so we can be heirs like Abraham.

Having become heirs, we are now co-heirs with Christ.

This is all God’s doing. Fulfilled in Jesus Christ we become

partakers of the divine nature through the Holy Spirit,

the spirit of promise and great hope, of faith and of love.

Hope that is seen is not hope, because what is seen is only

a reflection of the new  reality. We are winners with Jesus Christ

participating in His Victory.

We are co-heirs, joint-heirs if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may

be also glorified together.

This is becuse the sufferings of this life remind us of  the Passion and Cross

of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.

In the Spirit we are able to comprehend deeply that God is there for us,

in us a greater weight of glory. He is an ever present help in time of need.

” For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be

compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us. For the earnest

expectation of the creature waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.

For the creature was made subject to futility, not willingly, but by the

reason of Him Who has subjected the same in hope, because the creature

itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the

liberty of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole

creation groans and labors in pain together until now. And not only the

creation, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, we

ourselves also groan within ourselves, waiting for our adoption, the

redemption of our body. For by hope we were saved. Now hope that is

seen is not hope. For who hopes for what is seen? But if we hope for

what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

(Romans 8.18-25).
