TRUTH

TRUTH

The knowledge of the One True God totally

depends on God’s self revelation.

In every other field of study we depend

on our effort, exploration and education.

Our only source of correct information

about God is His Word Who became flesh

as Jesus Christ full of grace and truth, the

Unique Son of the Father, the Eternal I AM,

the way, the truth and the life.

THE LIFE

” The life was manifested and we have seen

and bear witness and declare to you that

eternal life which was with the Father and

was manifested to us.” ( I. John 1.2).

THE WAY

He is the way and the truth. There is no

other way to access the Father and He

is the truth of God’s revelation full of glory.

THE TRUTH

Here is what Karl Barth says in Church Dogmatics:

” As a man among men He is a human Thou, and as

such distinct from all mere things. Now as a Thou,

man is not merely an existential determination of

the I, but the sum of  all the objective reality of

the world”.

This is another way of saying that He is The Truth.

GOD BECAME A MAN IN JESUS CHRIST

Again continuing from where we left, Karl Barth says:

” And in Jesus Christ God becomes and is man, the

fellow- man of all men. As God He is not merely one

of many such fellow-men, nor is He merely the idea

of fellow-humanity. We are speaking of  ” the Father’s Son,

by nature God.” He became and is man, the fellow-man of

all men; and therefore Thou, not merely in a simple, but in

a supremely objective reality, the human Thou, which as

such is also directly the Thou of the one eternal God.”

SINCE GOD IS WITH US (IMMANUEL)

THE WHOLE HUMAN SITUATION CHANGES

The fact that we just saw here changes the scope,

prospect and context of what it means to be human.

Again, Karl Barth continues:

” The fact is rather that God Himself, in His deep mercy

has taken upon Himself to exist also in human being

and essence in His Son, and therefore to become and be

a man, and therefore this incomparable Thou.

God Himself is in the world, earthly, conceivable and

visible, as He is this man. We have to do with God

Himself as we have to do with this man.

God Himself speaks when this man speaks in human

speech. God Himself acts and suffers when this man

speaks and suffers as a man. God Himself triumphs

when this One triumphs as a man. The human speaking

and acting and suffering and triumphing of this one man

directly concerns us all, and His history is our history

of salvation which changes the whole human situation,

just because God Himself is its human subject in His Son,

just because God Himself has assumed and made His own

our human nature and kind in His Son, just because God

Himself came into this world in His Son, and as one of us

” a guest this world of us He trod.” ”

THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES

As Karl Barth continues:

“And as  and because the Holy Spirit is the coming of

Jesus Christ Himself, and His witness this disclosure

to men concerning themselves, He and His witness are

in fact the self revelation of Jesus Christ and as such

the basis of the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

We have to realize that God’s own revealedness for us

is God’s own person and God’s own work.

All the comfort, all the power, all the truth of this

revealedness depends upon the fact that it is with God

that we are dealing.

All our understanding of this revealedness depends upon

the fact that we identify it with God Himself, ruling out all

other possibilities but God’s possibility. We have therefore to

realize that as the recipient of revelation man is brought

under God’s judgement. It is only because of this that he is

brought under God’s promise. It is only because of this that

God meets him as the One who intercedes for him,  who

undertakes and directs his cause, who does not quench his

own ability and will and accomplishment but subordinates

it to His own, since man must always be subordinated to God,

if God’s glory is to triumph and man is to be helped.”

HUMAN FREEDOM VS DIVINE FREEDOM

Again continuing from above:

” We are to understand, therefore, that for God to be

revealed involves the dislodging of man from the

estimation of his own freedom, and his enrichment with

the freedom of the children of God. This negation, the

negation of man through God’s eternal grace and mercy, is

only the obverse of his position as a child of God, as a member

of the covenant between God and man. But this obviously means

that the negation of man cannot be put into effect any more than

his position as a child of God except through God’s own action.

Thus God’s possibility triumphs over the very imprisonment

in which we are involved, where we only fulfill our own

possibilities and only believe in our own possibilities.

The self-enclosed uniqueness of  man, who only has and

knows his own freedom, is overarched and enclosed and

finally relativized through the uniqueness of God and His

freedom in which He is resolved to have fellowship with this

man and once and for all to be his Lord.”

HIS GIFTS

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

And His gifts were varied, He Himself appointed and gave some

to be apostles (special messengers),some prophets (inspired preachers

and expounders),some evangelists (preachers of the Good News,

traveling missionaries), some pastors ( shepherds of His flock) and

teachers.

His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints

(His consecrated people),so  that they should do the work of

ministering toward the building up Christ’s body, the Church.

Until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension

of the full and accurate knowledge of the Son of God, that we might

arrive at really mature adulthood, the excellence of personality

which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own

perfection, the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ and

the completeness found in Him.

(Ephesians 4.11-13).

POINTS FOR MEDITATION AND PRAISE

1) We are blessed with various gifts to fulfil the positions

needed to perform the five-fold ministry. Namely, apostles,

prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers in order to equip

the saints to build up the Church until we all come to the full

unity and maturity of the knowledge of God’s Son and His full

stature with His completeness and full  measure of perfection.

2) We thank our Lord and Savior for His grace gifts which enable

us to fulfil these roles and help edify His body, knowing Him better

and as His Church is built up to the fullness of Him we grow in His

grace, knowledge and understanding to glorify Him more and more.

THE WHOLE UNIVERSE

THE WHOLE UNIVERSE

But He ascended? Now what can this, He ascended, mean but that

He had previously descended from the heights of heaven into the

depths, the lower parts of the earth?

He Who descended is the very same as He Who also has ascended

high above all the heavens, that He might fill all things, the whole

universe with His presence, from the lowest to the highest.

(Ephesians 4.9 and 10).

POINTS FOR MEDITATION AND PRAISE

1) He Who knew no sin became sin for us, so that we might become the

righteousness of God in Christ (I. Corinthians 5.21).

He entered into the fullness of human experience in order to redeem

humanity. Sorrow, grief, sadness, frustration, anger, disappointment,

being misunderstood, insulted, attacked, tortured, imprisoned and killed

were among His experiences. He conquered all of that from within and

triumphed for all of us. Please read Isaiah 53.3 and Hebrews 4.15 and

send your comments.

 2) Jesus Christ spanned the highest high and the lowest low in order to

fill the entire spectrum of human existence and experience with His

presence, thereby redeeming it and also to redeem the whole universe

as the children of God are ultimately manifested, the entire creation will

be transformed. This will be Creation 2.0 where death, decay, despair and

destruction will be abolished. There will be no suffering, pain, illness, grief,

or distress. The whole creation will be set free from entropy. There will be

a new Space and a new earth. Please read Romans 8.17-23 and Revelation

Chapter 22, the last chapter in your Bible. Send your comments please.

O GIVE THANKS

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

O GIVE THANKS

O Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His

mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has

delivered from the hand of the adversary,

And gathered them out of the lands, from the east

and from the west, from the north and from the sea

in the south.

Some wondered in the wilderness in a solitary desert

track, they found no city for habitation.

Hungry and thirsty, they fainted, their lives were near

to being extinguished.

then they cried to the Lord in their trouble and He

delivered them out of their distresses.

He led them forth by the straight and right way, that

they might go to a city where they could establish their

homes.

Oh, that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and

loving-kindness and His wonderful works to the children

of men!

For He satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with good.

Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in

affliction and in irons.

Because they had rebelled against the words of God and spurned

the counsel of the Most High.

Therefore He bowed down their hearts with hard labor, they

stumbled and fell down and there was no one to help.

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble and He saved them

out of their distresses.

He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and

broke apart the bonds that held them.

Oh, that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and loving-

kindness and His wonderful works to the children of men!

For He has broken the gates of brass and cut the bars of iron.

Some are fools because of the way of their transgressions and

are afflicted because of their iniquities.

They loath every kind of food and they draw near to the gates of death.

Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble and He delivers them out

of their distresses.

He sends forth His Word and rescues them from the pit and destruction.

Oh, that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and loving-kindness

and His wonderful works to the children of men!

And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving and rehearse His

deeds with shouts of joy and singing!

Some go down to the sea and travel over it in ships to do business

in great waters.

These see the works of the Lord and His wonders in the deep.

For he commands and raises up the stormy wind, which lifts

up the waves of the sea.

Those aboard mount up to the heavens, they go down again

to the deeps, their courage melts away because of their plight.

They reel to and fro and stagger like a drunken man and are

at their wits’ end, all their wisdom has come to nothing.

Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble and He brings them

out of their distresses.

He hushes the storm to a calm and to a gentle whisper, so that

the waves of the sea are still.

Then the men are glad because of the calm, and He brings them

to their desired haven.

Oh, that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and loving-

kindness and wonderful works to the children of men!

Let them exalt Him also in the congregation of the people and

praise Him in the company of the elders.

He turns rivers into a wilderness, water springs into a thirsty ground.

A fruitful land into a barren, salt waste, because of the wickedness of

those who dwell in it.

He turns a wilderness into a pool of water and a dry ground into water

springs.

And there He makes the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city

for habitation,

And sow fields and plant vineyads which yield fruits of increase.

He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly, and

allows not their cattle to decrease.

When they are diminished and bowed down through oppression,

trouble and sorrow,

He pours contempt upon princes and causes them to wonder in

waste places where there is no road.

Yet He raises the poor and needy from affliction and makes their

families like a flock.

The upright shall see it and be glad, but all iniquity shall shut its mouth.

Whoso is wise will observe and heed these things and they will diligently

consider the mercy and loving-kindness of the Lord.

(Psalm107).

RICH GIFT

RICH GIFT

There is one body and one Spirit, just as there is also

one hope that belongs to the calling you received.

There is one Lord, one faith one baptism, One God

the Father of us all, Who is above all, Sovereign over

all, pervading all and living in us all.

Yet grace (God’s unmerited favor) was given to each

of us individually (not indiscriminately, but in different

ways) in proportion to the measure of Christ’s rich and

bounteous gift. Therefore it is said, When He ascended on

high, He led captivity captive (He led a train of vanquished

foes) and he bestowed gifts on men.(Ephesians 4.4-8).

POINTS FOR PRAISE AND MEDITATION

1) There is one Lord, one Spirit, one body, one faith, one

baptism, one God and Father of us all who is above all,

pervading all and living in us all. HALLELUJAH!

2) Each believer has specifically been blessed with grace,

which is God’s unmerited favor according to the measure

of Christ’s rich gift. The measure is unlimited as we saw in

Ephesians 1.19.

3) The rich gift of Christ is described and predicted by the psalmist

who alludes to God’s Kingdom rule in prophetic and spiritual

ways which cover the past, present and future. This has to do

with each individual Christian and the Church, because this is

the holy place where the Lord dwells.

Here is Psalm 68.13-20):

“Though you (the slackers) may lie among the sheepfolds (in slothful ease,

yet for Israel) the wings of a dove are covered with silver, its pinions

excessively green with gold (trophies recovered from the enemy).

When the Almighty scattered kings in the land, it was as when it snows

on Zalmon (a wooded hill near Shechem).

Is Mount Bashan the high mountain of summits, Mount Bashan the

mount of God? Why do you look with grudging and with envy, you

many-peaked mountains, at the mountain which God has desired for

His dwelling place? Yes, the Lord will dwell in it forever.

The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands upon

thousands. The Lord is among them as He was in Sinai, in the

Holy Place.

YOU HAVE ASCENDED ON HIGH. YOU HAVE LED AWAY CAPTIVE

A TRAIN OF VANQUISHED FOES. YOU HAVE RECEIVED GIFTS OF

MEN, YES of the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell there

with them.

Blessed be the Lord, who bears our burdens and carries us day by day,

the God Who is our salvation! Selah (pause and calmly think of that)!

God is to us a God of deliverances and salvation and to God the Lord

belongs escape from death (setting us free).

4) Here in this psalm the Lord Who bears our burdens, whose

burden is easy and burden is light Jesus the Christ is the One

Who delivers and sets us free from sin and death, our God Who is

our salvation. The very name Jesus literally means (God Who IS

Salvation).

5) St. Paul in a turn of the phrase states that Jesus Christ led

captivity captive and bestowed gifts to humanity. This is different from

the context of the psalm where a train of captives were being led and the

Lord received gifts of men.

When the Lord led captivity captive He destroyed the power the

devil which kept  mankind captive to the  fear of death. This is

explained here by the author of Hebrews:

” Since, therefore His children share in flesh and blood, He himself

in asimilar manner partook of the same nature, that by going through

death He might bring to nought and make of no effect him who had the

power of death, that is the devil-

And also that He might deliver and completely set free all those who

through the haunting fear of death were held in bondage throughout

the course of their lives. “(Hebrews 2. 14& 15).

In the psalm He receives gifts. In Ephesians St. Paul is saying that

the Lord gives each believer individual spiritual gifts.

ONE LORD

ONE LORD

There is one Lord,

one faith, one baptism.

(Ephesians4.5).

POINTS FOR MEDITATION

AND PRAISE

1) Jesus Christ is the supreme

power in all creation.

2) As Creator and Savior

He sums all wisdom, majesty

and authority. ( Matthew 28.18).

HALLELUJAH! THANK YOU LORD JESUS!

He conquered the grave.

He gives us His victory.

He gave us

eternal salvation!

ONE BODY

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

ONE BODY

There is one body and one Spirit

just as there is also one hope that

belongs to the calling you received.

(Ephesians 4.4).

POINTS FOR MEDITATION

1) There is no other future

destiny to hope outside

of Jesus.

2) His purpose stands. We stand

with Him.

3) Our future is secure in His eternity.

4) There is one body of Christ.

He is the head of the body.

The Holy Spirit unites us

with His unique power.

HALLELUJAH! THANK YOU
LORD JESUS FOREVERMORE!

EAGER FOR HAPPINESS

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

EAGER FOR HAPPINESS

Be eager and strive

earnestly to guard

and keep the  harmony

and oneness of (and

produced by)

the Spirit in the binding

power of peace.

(Ephesians 4. 3)

POINTS FOR REFLECTION

AND MEDITATION

1) The pursuit of peace

is only possible by the

attitude of humility,

gentleness, forgiveness

and kindness which

characterizes Jesus. His

character traits allow

us to pursue peace

successfully. These character

traits are acquired  by being

filled with the Holy Spirit.

2) When we are intentional

and intense in the pursuit

of harmony and oneness

with the binding and

uniting power of the

Holy Spirit we are

able to make progress

in achieving peace.

3) If you are eager for happiness

this is the key to lasting happiness.

PRAISE THE LORD JESUS

FOR HIS MOST PHENOMENAL GIFT!

HAPPY LIVING

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

HAPPY LIVING

Living as becomes you

with complete lowliness

of mind (humility) and

meekness (unselfishness,

gentleness, mildness),

with patience, bearing

with one another and

making allowances because

you love one another.

POINTS FOR MEDITATION

AND PRAISE

1) What characterizes Jesus Christ’s

attitude towards humanity? His

character traits, attitude and behavior

are  our example.

2) Happiness is doing what brings

everlasting rewards.

Happy living requires following the

example set by Jesus Christ, the

Captain of our salvation.

3) Let this same attitude and purpose

and humble mind be in you which was

in Christ Jesus: ( Let Him be your example

in humility:)

Who, although being essentially one with

God (possessing the fullness of the attributes

of God), did not think this equality with God

was something to be eagerly grasped or

retained,

But stripped Himself (of all privileges and

rightful dignity) so as to assume the guise

of a servant, in that He became  a man.

And after He had appeared in human form,

He abased and humbled Himself (still further)

and carried out His obedience to the extreme

of death, even  the death of the cross!

Therefore (because He stooped so low) God

has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed

on Him the name that is above every name,

That at the name of Jesus every knee must bow,

in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

And every tongue openly confess and acknowledge

that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

(Philippians 2 .5-11).

HALLELUJAH! THANK YOU LORD JESUS!

SUMMONS TO JOY AND FREEDOM

Friday, November 20th, 2009

SUMMONS TO JOY AND FREEDOM

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord,

appeal  to and beg you to walk worthy

of the divine calling to which you have

been called (with behavior that is a

credit to the summons to God’s service.

(Ephesians 4.1).

POINTS FOR PRAISE

AND MEDITATION

1) St. Paul considers himself the prisoner

of the Lord. This is not to indicate lack

of freedom. On the contrary our freedom

is God’s freedom. We enter into God’s

freedom. Where the Spirit of the Lord is

there is freedom.

2)This in essence is the summons to

joy and freedom.

3)St. Paul is set in His course for His life

thoroughly committed to God’s way.

4) God’s way of life is His lifestyle, to

live a life worthy of the divine calling to

which we have been called, to His glory,

not seeking our own, but seeking His way

of life.

HALLELUJAH! THANK YOU LORD JESUS!
